The aim of the study is to evaluate the physical, chemical and antimicrobial properties of high plasticity calcium silicate-based cements (MTA HP, Biodentine and MTA Flow) and to purpose a novel high plasticity cement composed of tricalcium and dicalcium silicate, bismuth oxide, zinc oxide and in the liquid, distilled water and water-soluble polymer. The association of zinc oxide in MTA Flow will be also evaluated to inhibit dental discoloration verified in a pilot test. The chemical characterization, bioactivity, radiopacity, setting time, flowability, volumetric change, pH, calcium release, dental discoloration and antimicrobial activity will be evaluated. Chemical characterization and bioactivity will be evaluated using SEM, EDS and XRD. Radiopacity, setting time and flowability will be determined according to ISO 6876/2001. Flowability will be also tested using volumetric method. Volumetric change will be tested using micro-CT. The pH and ion release will be evaluated after 3, 24 hours and 28 days. Dental discoloration analysis will be performed before cement insertion, immediately after insertion and after 28, 60, 90 and 180 days. Antimicrobial activity will be evaluated using inhibition test. Discoloration will be evaluated immediately after filling and 28, 60 and 90 days after filling. The results will be submitted to normality test of D'Agostino and Pearson to select the most adequate statistical test (p < 0.05). (AU)
