Photography and cinema: passages of images

Abstract

Philippe Dubois (born 1952) is Professor of the Film and Audiovisual Department of the Sorbonne Nouvelle University - Paris 3 where he occupies the chair of "Theories of visual forms". In addition, for six years Vice-President of this university (responsible for international politics), is since September 2012, senior member of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF). He has published fifteen books and more than a hundred articles on photography, film and video, including "L'Acte photographique", and his last book was "La Question vidéo. Entre cinéma et art contemporain" (éd. Yellow Now, 2012). He was critical (photo, film and video), editor of International Journal of Cinema. He is also (co) responsible for the publication of several collections: "Arts et cinema" (DeBoeck), "Cinéthésis" (Forum) and the revue Cinéma & Cie. His areas of expertise, always with a multidisciplinary approach, are visual theory forms, aesthetic images, contemporary art, methodology and film analysis. Among his interests, besides the photo and video. Dubois will give a special seminar entitled "Photographie et Cinéma: passages d'images", With 08 sessions of 03 hours each, during 04 weeks, and will be based on the book "Fotografía & Cine", Published in Mexico (2013), without translations for other languages.
