Abstract

The aim of this research project is the industrial and commercial development of an unmanned vehicle that moves around on rails (suspended or not), it's remotely controlled and it's able to run pre -programmed missions autonomously. This vehicle will be named of Tunnel Monitoring Train, or simply TMT. Its main application is to assist the activities of monitoring, inspection and maintenance of tunnels, like the particle accelerator tunnel, It will be able to collect high-definition images, thermal images, ambient temperature, radiation, vibration, sounds, etc. , and it also will allow the addition or replacement of sensors for other applications. It will be able to monitor its own conditions (like battery charge, speed, etc.), as well to contain and manage devices that ensure its own integrity and of people who are in the place where it is operating. The TMT will be remotely controlled through a control and monitoring station, which development will also be part of the scope of this project, as well as a charging station TMT battery. (AU)
