Abstract

Rhamnolipids has been studied for more than 60 years, however some factors involved in the biosynthesis of this molecule, have not yet been elucidated. An important point of divergence concerns the synthesis of the hydrophobic portion of this metabolite. This study aims to confirming the hypothesis that the pathway used for synthesis of lipid precursor of the rhamnolipid depends on the polarity of the carbon source used. In addition, it is proposed to evaluate the relationship of the rhlG gene to the production of rhamnolipids by comparing the carbon flux of the wild-type and mutant of Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAOI.
