Abstract

The current proposal aims to strengthen the scientific cooperation between UFG-GO and UNICAMP, through the host of Prof. Carolina Horta Andrade, as Visiting Researcher. The hosting of Prof. Carolina Andrade will attend two research projects, one Thematic and one Young Investigator (see attached summaries in SAGE) due to the complementary nature of these projects and the profile of Prof. Andrade. Therefore, the following activities are planned; (I) presentation of seminars and workshops at Universities of São Paulo state (UNICAMP, USP-São Paulo, USP-São Carlos); (ii) elaboration of research projects in collaboration, taking advantage of Prof. Andrade's collaborative network; (iii) training of undergraduate and graduate students through didactic activities, such as collaboration in the course "Physiopathogenesis of emerging diseases and application of computational tools for the discovery of therapeutic targets and drugs", in the Post-Graduation Program in Genetics and Molecular Biology and another discipline in the recently created Post-Graduation Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences of UNICAMP, and (iv) co-orientation of master's and doctoral students.Regarding the research, the Visiting Researcher will collaborate in projects that are underway in the Laboratory coordinated by Prof. Fabio TM Costa (Thematic project coordinator) and Profa. Elizabeth Bilsland (Coordinator of the Young Researcher - see attached curriculum attached to SAGE), as well as collaboration with other ongoing research projects of UNICAMP, USP-SP, USP-São Carlos and Instituto Adolfo Lutz, in which Dr. Carolina Horta already has collaborations in progress. Dr. Andrade has expertise in the development and application of Computer-Aided Drug Design (CADD) tools such as; virtual screening, bioinformatics, chemogenomics, chemoinformatics and development of platforms for in silico modeling of pharmacokinetic properties and toxicity. Regarding to training and teaching, Dr. Andrade has experience in teaching and mentoring Master's and Ph.D. students in two postgraduate programs at UFG: Postgraduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences (PPGCF) and Postgraduate Program in Tropical Medicine and Public Health (PPGMTSP), in addition to a Network Program with UFPA, UFAM and UNIFAP, the Postgraduate Program in Pharmaceutical Innovation (PPGIF). The dissertations and theses oriented so far by Prof. Carolina are focused on the design and discovery of drug candidates for parasitic diseases, areas of interest of the host principal investigator Dr. Fabio T. M. Costa and of Profa. Elizabeth Bilsland. (AU)
