Abstract

Since 2015 the Research Group of Morphodynamic and Environmental Processes from USP has been developing studies on the landslides and the debris flows that occurred in the municipality of Itaoca in 2014, that caused numerous social, economic and environmental losses. The project focus on "Debris Flow Hazard Mapping: Methodological Proposal for Predict Impacts" to evaluate the debris flow hazard based on morphometric/morphological parameters, physically-based mathematical models and land use patterns. Nevertheless, for more rigorous estimation of the role played by morphometric parameters, for instance, the application of statistical methods is fundamental. Thus, the visit of the Professor is essential to continue the discussions of this project on the field and laboratory, to make available a contact between the visitor and the students and professors involved of the Department of Geography of the University of São Paulo.
