Environmental evaluation and reconstruction based on benthic foraminifera and stable isotopes from campos and Santos basins, Brazilian Southeastern margin

Abstract

The project concerning the visit of Dr. Laetitia Licari, at the Oceanographic Institute - IOUSP, has as main objective to collaborate in the interpretation and discussion of data, and in the improvement of sampling and laboratory methods, in ongoing projects in the Laboratory of Environmental Bioindicators of the USP - LBA/IOUSP. In this project, the following main activities will be carried out: A) discussion and practical activity on the methods of sampling and samples’ treatment, as well as diverse laboratory procedures, allowing to increase the quality of research in Marine Micropaleontology at University of São Paulo; B) laboratory training on the identification of benthic foraminifera species and choice of species with better potential for the analysis of oxygen and carbon stable isotopes; C) treatment and discussion of data obtained, focusing on future publications; D) finalize articles being prepared, entitled "Live benthic foraminifera species and stable isotope composition in canyons and open slope, Campos Basin, southeastern continental Brazilian margin" and "Stable isotopes of mid-lower bathyal benthic foraminifera in different trophic conditions in the southwestern Atlantic".
