Evolution of cuesta landforms in state of São Paulo: Passa Cinco River drainage basin region (SP)

Abstract

The project has the aim of searching for aswers about the evolution of relief in the state of São Paulo during the Quaternary period, based on the study of the region of the river Passa Cinco drainage basin, which is inserted in the transition between the Cuesta and the Peripheral Depression Paulista compartments. Thought, considering the structural, lithological and climatic controls, the present work intend to evaluate the landforms, after geomorphological mapping and morphostructural analysis in 1:50.000 scale, and also, recognize the relief evolution on the river Passa Cinco drainage basin, during the Quaternary, based on OSL (Optically Stimulate Luminesence) dating of fluvial terraces sediments and colluviums deposits on the areas of "talus cuestiformes" and residual hills. The results will be compared with data from the research project "Evolução Geomorfológica no Limite Cuestas-Depressão Periférica no estado de São Paulo: a Região de Analândia (SP)" - Processo FAPESP 2013/15830-9 - with the aim of understanding the regional landscape evolution of the area.
