Behavior, nutrition and, health of broilers fed with passion fruit (Passiflora edulis) seed oil

Abstract

The research will be carried out to evaluate the effects of adding passion fruit seed oil in the feed of broilers in the characteristics of productive performance, oxidative stress, quality and oxidation of meat and animal behavior. For this, three experiments will be conducted: Exp. I - metabolism test to evaluate EM passion fruit seed oil by the total excreta collection method, 100 male broilers are used, the Cobb, 21 days of age. Exp. II - Performance, antioxidant activity and economic analysis - will be used 1,400 chicks of 1 day old male, of Cobb, housed floor pens in 56 boxes, the design will be completely randomized, with seven treatments (positive and negative control and 5 levels of inclusion of passion fruit seed oil: 0.10, 0.20, 0.30, 0.40 and 0.50% replacing soybean oil) with eight replications. Exp. III - stress by temperature in climatic chambers - will be used 480 chicks of 1 day old male, of Cobb, housed in galvanized wire cages, divided into two climate chambers: thermoneutral and with cyclic heat stress, with 48 cages each with 5 birds / cage, the design will be completely randomized in a factorial 2 x 6 (two temperatures: thermoneutral and cyclical heat stress, and six treatments: control + five levels of passion fruit seed oil include: 0.10, 0.20, 0.30, 0.40 and 0.50% replacing soybean oil) with eight replications.
