Dr. Ezeji (OSU) is a research associate in the ongoing FAPESP-funded project and in the two planned visits to UNICAMP, he will offer training (in butanol fermentation and metabolic engineering) to students involved in the project and to those interested in the research subject. In addition, he will contribute to experimental plans and designs, and the start-up of the anaerobic cultivation chamber in the LOPCA-Bioen laboratory at FEQ/UNICAMP. Dr. Mariano is the PI of the ongoing FAPESP-funded project. His current research is focused on the development of fermentation technologies and design methodologies to serve the emerging forest and sugarcane biorefinery industries. In his visit to OSU, he will have the chance to discuss progress and challenges of ongoing project and collaborations with Dr. Ezeji's group and collaborators, share knowledge and discuss more areas of mutual benefits to OSU and UNICAMP. Also on the UNICAMP side, an MSc student (already identified) is planned to spend a two-week laboratory training at OSU on lignocellulosic biomass conversion to butanol and mitigation of lignocellulose-derived microbial inhibitory compounds.
