Abstract

The objective of this study is to evaluate hardness, degree of conversion, the marginal adaptation, bond strength and morphological characteristics of the adhesive interface created by a self-adhesive composite resin (Vertise Flow - Kerr) and the caries affected dentine, compared to an adhesive system associated with a conventional flowable composite. Cavity preparations will be made in occlusal dentin of molars (2 mm x 6 mm x 2 mm).Through the microbiological method dentine affected by caries will be produced in half the pulp wall of the preparations, which will be restored and cut in mesiodistal direction of the tooth, evidencing the adhesive interface. Half of the specimens will be submitted to hardness tests and the other half of the specimens will be analyzed by scanning electron microscopy in order to measure the width of the major groove of marginal leakage found in restorations and to describe the morphological characteristics of the interface. To analyze the degree of conversion, the specimens will be made from 10 human molars prepared and passed by cariogenic test as the other teeth. The teeth will be cut towards the lingual vestibule so that they are obtained two slices (2 mm thick) for a tooth, one with healthy dentin and the other with affected dentin. The restorative materials are inserted in the preparations so that the degree of conversion is measured before and after curing. The bond strength will be obtained by microshear, in which two cylinders of tested resins will be made on healthy dentin and affected by caries and the test will be run on a machine of universal tests. Each variable will be evaluated separately by two factors ANOVA and Tukey's test. The morphological characteristics will be described after qualitative analysis. (AU)
