Recovery of lanthanides and other metals from WEEE

Abstract

The aim of the proposed Project is to pay attention on the possibility to recover the RE elements from waste electrical and electronic equipment such as end-of-life fluorescent lamps. Simultaneously, novel solutions for REs adsorption from solutions will be proposed for the remediation purposes. The study will concern on the usability of the developed technologies for recovery of the metals from e-waste and their removal from water/or extraction. The new technologies that will emerge from the team synergy will be evaluated by the recovery yield and purity of the separated metals. The analysis of the results will be used to estimate of the proposed technics are promising and may be profitable to be used in technological lines for rare earths (and other metal ions) recovery in the Partners countries. Eventually, the success of selected strategies will open new ways for the design of nanocomposite materials for the design of new systems and devices, e.g. in optics. (AU)
