LAPAROSCOPY AND INSTRUMENTATION FOR OVARIECTOMY ON MULES AND DIAGNOSIS OF CATTLE INDIGESTIONS

Abstract

The economic and social importance of creating mules in Brazil is very high, in view of their use as animal traction and mainly for the management of cattle. Thus, the behavior of these animals directly influences their zootechnical function and during the estrous cycle these aspects become more evident. Has been held in overiectomia through surgical approaches in conventional manner, it is associated with the complications inherent to the technique, a possibility to reduce complications, costs and convalescence time constitutes ovariectomy by laparoscopy. Referring to the cattle the situation is similar, it is undeniable economic importance and cattle contribution to the economic and social development of the country, and the sheep are affected by various diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, where there is need to use complementary tests to arrive at a diagnosis, establishing prognosis and plan properly the therapeutic strategy in these situations ultrasonography helps a lot, but in some cases it only scales the morphofunctional damage, but does not allow the characterization of the disease. In these situations exploratory laparotomy is required feature, presenting the disadvantages associated with a conventional surgical approach as mentioned above. Thus, also in this situation, exploratory laparoscopy may contribute significantly in reducing surgical trauma, housing commitment in addition to other benefits mentioned above. They will be used six otherwise healthy mules, in which we will evaluate the reproductive function, with completion of the reproductive hormonal profile and will be held simultaneously ovariectomy through laparoscopy with the use of ultrasonic scalpel postoperative will be conducted clinical and laboratory monitoring to characterize possible technical complications. Referring to the cattle will be used five animals, which are met in Bovine Clinic, UFRPE being affected by traumatic and obstructive disorders of the gastrointestinal system, where it will be after physical examination, ultrasound examination of the ventral half of the abdomen, followed exploratory laparoscopy in cases where there is indication of exploratory laparotomy, and postoperative, like the mules, conducted clinical and laboratory monitoring.
