Abstract

The project aims to develop a system for surveillance and control of hospital acquired infection, coupled to a hand hygiene control system developed by the company in partnership with a reference hospital in Brazil and a medical manufacturing company. Nosocomial infections surveillance associated with hospital acquired infection (HAI) should be part of effective prevention programs. The health surveillance is defined as a systematic collection, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of data about events related to health to reduce mortality and improve the health of the patient. Health care workers of hospital infection control committee use this surveillance to reduce and predict nosocomial infections associated with patient care and increase the safety of both the patient and the professional. Continuous monitoring of HAI rates can be used to improve initiatives, carry out effective interventions and increase access to information that can be used for comparisons between units. The monitoring can also be used for rapid identification and outbreak of infections providing epidemiological profile for the clinical study. Within this concept of an automated system for surveillance and control of infection, the i-HealthSys proposes the development of a system of surveillance and control of hospital infection, integrated into the electronic control system of hand washing, adding a more complete solution of a system, giving an efficient and robust system for surveillance and infection control in ICU and Semi-ICU units (AU)
