Abstract

The objectives of this project are: 1) To evaluate the effect of doses of Sodium Monensin and Narasin in diets of cattle. Experiment I: Eight steers, Nelore, cannulated in the rumen, will be used in a double 4 X 4 Latin Square design. The animals will be fed with Coastcross hay and the treatment will be: Control (without ionophore), M7.5 (7.5 ppm of Monensin), M15 e M22.5. Will be evaluated ruminal parameters, blood parameters and nutrient digestibility. Experiment II: Eight steers, Nelore, cannulated in the rumen, will be used in a double 4 X 4 Latin Square design. Animals will be fed with diet containing 90% concentrate and the treatments will be: Control (without ionophore), M25 (25 ppm of Monensin), N10 (10 ppm of Narasin) and N20 (20 ppm of Narasin). Will be evaluated ruminal parameters, blood parameters and nutrient digestibility. 2) To evaluate the mineral premix intake containing Narasin by Nellore heifers fed high concentrate or high roughage diets Experiment III: The design is triple Latin square. They will be used 27 Nelore heifers approximately one year of age allocated in 9 bays (three heifers per pen). The animals will be fed with only hay "coastcross". Heifers received three types of mineral mix with 0, 6.5 and 13 ppm Narasin. They will be assessed the average daily gain (ADG), the amount and frequency of mineral mixture of consumption and dry matter intake. Experiment IV: The design is triple Latin square. They will be used 27 Nelore heifers approximately one year of age allocated in 9 bays (three heifers per pen). The animals are fed diets containing high concentrate. The heifers received three types of mineral admixture with 0, 6.5 and 13 ppm of narasin. They will be assessed the average daily gain (ADG), the amount and frequency of mineral mixture of consumption and dry matter intake. (AU)
