Guardianship and Welded in Post-Abolition/ Pindamonhangaba City, Paraíba Paulista Valley (1888-1910)


This project to study tensions and conflicts involving freedmen (the) former slaves (as), naive, poor single mothers, underprivileged and orphaned children, occurred in the Vale do Paraíba. The city of Pindamonhangaba, near the city of Taubaté, was a very city of Taubaté, was a very influential local policy and economically during the heydays of coffee in the region. Like the neighboring Taubaté, Pindaminhangaba also had his barons, major regional influence of men, and a significant contigent of slaves to time. An issue that has become constant in the post-abolition of the Paraíba Valley ha been the recurrence of the act and tutelary or assoldadar children and young children of freed or poor single mothers, as research has shown. In a first investigation on the sources available to the history of Pindamonhangaba for the stipulated period (1888-1910) draws attention to a significant amount of existing Orphan Guardianship in the citys historical archive, most of them directly former slaves, freed and their children. Between 1888 and 1910 were accounted 269 Guardianship processes Orphans, decreasing gradually until 1910. They will also be surveyed newspapers that city in order to identify the abolition. One of the questions that arises is to ask whether the act of protecting children and young sons of former slaves and poor single Seeks to uncover the tensions engendered between tutotes and assoldadantes with their children and youth as well as their mothers and related, stresses that not infrequently resulted un leaks or applications punishment and ill-treatment. It also seeks to evaluate how such tutelary arrangements influenced the social and cultural construction and organization of work in post-abolition of the region. (AU)
