Development of multidimensional scale evaluation of interference pain in quality of life (MUSEIP-QL): a new concept in view of the concept of total pain

Abstract

Objective: The overall objective develop and validate the unprecedented scale Multidimensional Assessment of the Impact of Pain on Quality of Life (EMAIDORQUAVI) and specific objectives are to identify attributes (items) quality of life, considering the relationship between the two phenomena complex pain and its interference in the quality of life; translation and back translation of the scale in its original form; validate the scale apparent form and content; apply the scale in its final form and validate the psychophysical point of view EMAIDORQUAVI. Method: In the first stage was carried out survey in national and international databases, instruments related to quality of life and pain. The attributes were identified, which make up the instrument in its original form, which will be subsequently validated in its apparent form and content by 08 judges. The sample will consist of a number of participants is three times larger than the number of items of definite scale. The methods used for the application of the scale is the category estimation and psychophysics validation will be the modality matching. Result: It was obtained as a result 230 instruments related to quality of life and pain, among them ex x specific generic. And they were identified 6752 attributes. The data will be subsequently presented in tables and graphs, the averages are calculated the geometric means and standard deviations. To psychophysical validation exponents of power function will be calculated. Final thoughts: Currently there are several tools available to assess quality of life include pain, but not compatible with the complexity of multidimensional painful phenomenon (concept of total pain) and the interference of pain on quality of life, therefore, necessary it makes the development of valid instruments for determining the interference in individuals who perceive pain.
