Myocardial infarction (MI) is an ischemic disease that occurs by a deficient perfusion of cardiac tissue, resulting in necrosis of the myocardial wall. Despite the reduction in the number of death due to MI, this disease still has a high incidence and many patients have consequences such as low physical capacity. Among alterations found in IM the endothelial dysfunction is present, it is common in cardiovascular disease and is characterized by an imbalance between the release of contractile factors in detriment of endothelium-derived relaxing factors. Besides the endothelium, the literature has shown that perivascular adipose tissue (PVAT) is able to release vasoactive substances that have an anti-contractile effect. In the presence of cardiovascular diseases the PVAT presents an imbalance of its function. This dysfunction occurs, as well as in the endothelium, by reducing the release of relaxing and/or by increased contractile factors. Among the contractile factors we mention aldosterone, which is released by adipocytes. Aldosterone levels also are increased in patients and animals model of MI, thus demonstrating a possible relationship among PVAT, aldosterone and myocardial infarction. To reverse these losses promoted by MI, various associations related to healthhave suggested, in its guidelines, the regular practice of physical exercise as a non-pharmacologic tool. Regular exercise improves survival, physical capacity, cardiac contractility, antioxidants and inflammatory parameters, and the ability to interfere with the expression of adipokines. Furthermore, the literature has shown that the combination of aerobic and resistance exercises have been effective in promoting benefits in infarcted patients. Within this context, the current project has the objective to evaluate the influence of PVAT on vascular reactivity of rat aorta after MI submitted to combined resistance-aerobic training. (AU)
