Abstract

This project aims at the investigation of complex colloidal systems formed through the association of surfactants, polymers and nanoparticles. Its objectives are the understanding of the association processes involved in the formation of such systems, their structural characterization and elucidation of their properties, focusing on potential applications. The systems that will be investigated are: wormlike micelles, nanoparticles with liquid-crystalline cores, surface-modified silica nanoparticles, Janus metallic nanoparticles, block-copolymers with controlled architecture and colloidal petroleum systems formed by asphaltenes.
