Intellectuals, culture and politics (visiting professor: Michael Lowy)

Abstract

Prof. Michael Löwy's visit to Unicamp is connected with the project "Artists and intellectuals in the construction of the intellectual field and cultural industry in Brazil during the Cold War", by Prof. Marcelo Ridenti .The participation of Prof. Löwy is also linked to four PhD projects in progress, advised by Ridenti, two of them with grants from FAPESP, and other activities involving professors and students of the Graduate Program in Sociology IFCH/Unicamp whose investigations are related to Lowy's research on "Intellectuals, culture and politics". The activities include involvement in actions of investigative character, participation in research seminars and discussions with colleagues and graduate students planned for the months of September-November 2016. They will be complemented by events open to a wider public, particularly professors and students at IFCH/Unicamp. (AU)
