Developing Next Generation Smart Services and Applications for Smart Cities


The proposed research project aims to build an infrastructure for enabling the smart cities, ranging from urban sensing, the storage of data, communication, until the construction of applications that benefit from this entire infrastructure. In this context, issues like data acquisition in vehicular networks, wireless sensor networks and unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as social data gathered from citizens and visitors through their communicating devices and their social network posts must be stored and used by applications with the goal of providing a database with different information about the city. The research of this project aims to design solutions to various problems, such as traffic monitoring, emergency response and environmental monitoring. Scientific and technical innovations in iCities project aims to enable improved services to the citizens. (AU)
