The purpose of this research is to explore and describe the relationships among evaluations of the work of organizers, perceptions of legacy, and popular support for hosting the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, in three different moments: four year before the event (2012 data collection), two years before the event (2014 data collection), and in the year of the event (2016 data collection). Literature argues that organizers of sport mega-events must consider the opinions of main stakeholders to plan and organize a sport mega-event which is going to leave important positive legacies to the local community. Social representations (Moscovici, 1981) and social exchange theories supported the proposition of three structural model to test the relationships among the constructs. These models are going to be statistically tested using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modeling (SEM). The antecedents of these models are evaluations of the work of organizers and perceptions of legacy. Two of these models are mediational models, which consider perceptions of legacy as a mediator between evaluations of the work of organizers and popular support (endogenous variable). The population of interest of this research is the population of the host city, Rio de Janeiro. (AU)
