Study of landscape: Environmental History, perceptions and rivers of memories

Abstract

This project aims at carrying out a study of the geographical landscape within a symbolic and integrated concept, raising history, perceptions and rivers memories.The landscape as a matrix of meanings expresses the experiences of social and cultural values essential to understanding the ample landscape mode, used as subsidies for public policy, environmental planning and current patrimony discussion. Therefore, this research aims to raise the environmental history and the perceptions and memories arising from cultural relationship with the rivers. The study area is the landscape of Mandira river located in the neighborhood of the same name, located in Cananéia, State of Sao Paulo. The theory will be based on the theories of cultural humanistic Geography. It is expected that this study will contribute to the evaluative understanding of landscape and patrimonial, constituting as an integrating concept of the relation nature culture. (AU)
