Abstract
The stay of the visiting researcher stay will drive a long-term cooperation between the respective research groups at ITA and the University of Southampton in the area of dynamics and control of flexible aircraft, with the following specific objectives: Develop a multi-fidelity, multi-level capability for next-generation aircraft design - Develop a robust reduced order model for control design synthesis - Control synthesis design for next-generation flexible aircraft - Dissemination in the academic and industrial communities. During the stay, we will work on the workflow for the execution of the four work packages defined in the proposal. A benchmark aircraft developed by the Brazilian hosting group shall be used to start the first work package, and the results shall be summarised in a first publication (possibly to be submitted to AIAA Journal). Collaborative supervisions of PhD. candidates will be discussed and a plan to exchange at least one student from each partner in 2017 (for six months up to one year). For the knowledge dissemination, the visiting researcher will give a short course at ITA, open to scientific and industrial communities. Visits at EMBRAER and partner universities, in special the University of São Paulo, Campus São Carlos (Aeronautical Engineering), are planned to show related topics of research and to identify possible partners.
