Contribution of Nanostructured Materials in Electroanalysis of pharmaceuticals and dyes, in the oxidation and reduction photoeletrocatalytic process of Inorganic and Organic Pollutants and Water Disinfection.


The use of electrodes constructed from nanostructured materials or in nanoscale in the electrochemistry, has revolutionized some aspects of thermodynamics and kinetics of the electrodic reactions, energy conversion processes, modification and synthesis of chemical compounds, development of new analytical methods and etc. In this proposal our goal is to explore the electrochemical as a tool in the preparation and/or utilization of nanostructured materials to improve electroanalytical methods response as well as in photoelectrocatalysis measures. Among the extraordinary diversity of nanomaterials is intended to investigate the construction, characterization and application of graphene electrodes modified with cysteine and keratin, magnetic nanoparticles (Fe2O3) and tosyl modified with carboxyl groups and semiconductor nanostructured based on TiO2, and WO3 with and without decoration with Pt and Ag and composites of TiO2/WO3 and Si/TiO2 decorated with Pt. The interest in these materials is justified for the search response for new challenges: determining textile dyes and hair dyes in environmental samples in a quick and inexpensive way, to determine steroids and diuretics in biological fluids and environmental matrices, to investigate new CO2 reduction methods to generate products with higher added value, to improve water disinfection processes and improve the cost/benefit involved in water treatment. In addition we aimed to improve the performance of photoelectrocatalytic processes with enlargeent of semiconductor absorption front of the sunlight spectrum contributing to a significant impact in making these technologies commercially viable.
