The undergraduate program in Medicine expose their students to significant stress, with consequences in learning, motivation and contact with patients, colleagues and teachers, quality of life, among others. It can trigger exhaustion syndrome, problems in the mental health sphere, other diseases or aggravating existing ones. The development of psychological stress is associated with inflammatory changes in the components of the system. The presence of stress and depression cause loss of empathy in medical undergraduate students. Meditation techniques and integrative medicine have been used in order to reduce stress levels and increase empathy in students and health professionals, including graduate students in medicine and doctors. In addition to improving the perception and decrease stress and increase empathy, these techniques are associated with decreased systemic inflammatory factors in those who practice or receive. This study aims to evaluate and understand the effects of breathing exercises, interpersonal experiences exercises and meditation on the perception of stress, empathy and inflammatory markers of undergraduate students in Medicine.
