Mathematical models for the study of phosphorus and calcium kinetics and metabolism in ruminants and non-ruminants

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to use data from balance and kinetic studies to propose and solve models of P and Ca metabolism in domestic animals. The informations obtained from the study will be useful for a better understanding of the control of Ca and P homeostasis, to improve mineral utilization and to quantify the contribution of Ca and P pollution to the environment due to excess of mineral intake. The distribution, absorption, retention and incorporation in bane and tissues will be evaluated, after introduction of radioisotope in animal organism. For the study, P and Ca metabolism will be evaluated by means of compartmental models. (AU)
