The aim of this study is to know the biodiversity, dynamic of distribution and natural infection by the Schistosoma mansoni of the Biomphalaria in the Basin of The High Tietê, beyond of the extension and magnitude of risk areas for parasite transmission those areas. The study includes freshwater bodies since the city Salesópolis to the city named Pirapora do Bom Jesus. The mollusks will be collected between June 2015 and May 2016. The Biomphalaria specimens will be identified through anatomical characters, including the reproductive and renal organs, radula and Shell. Structural morphology of radula will be analyzed by scanning electron microscope. The DNA Barcoding molecular methodology will be applied in order to complement morphological species delimitation. Natural infection of snails by the S. mansoni will be checked. Will be identified and measured of risks areas for parasite transmission in the Basin of the High Tiete, which will be represented through thematic maps. Will be established a public database of DNA sequences associated with a specimen (voucher) and genetic diversity. The aim is to evaluate the importance of the Basin of the High Tiete in Schistosomiasis Program of Greater São Paulo and contribute to the knowledge of the epidemiology of the disease in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
