Abstract
At LANA-CENA/USP we will be prospecting enzymes in Brazil and abroad, natural or synthetic, evaluating the fibrolytic activity under rumen conditions (pH 6-7 and temperature 39°C) through laboratory testing already in use in Brazil and the ones proposed from Reading University .After the selection of promising materials, these enzymes will have identified its proteins by proteomic studies, and will be then tested in vitro using pastures harvested in different regions of Brazil to determine the best dose in terms of increase in fiber degradability through the ruminal fermentation. The best bets will be used in in vivo assays with sheep (model for the nutrition of ruminants) in Brazil aiming at increasing the efficiency of nutrient use and consequent increase in sustainable production in the sector, according to support and expertise from this cooperation for identifying means of administering the enzyme in a grazing situation.
