Abstract

This project is one of the activities developed by the Center for Amerindian Studies at the University of São Paulo - CEstA/USP. It aims to give continuity to efforts put forth in the "Amerindian Dialogues", debates which are held at the University that bring together members of the CEstA and knowledgeable indigenous guest speakers. In this manner, the intent is to host at the CEstA three knowledgeable indigenous persons (Jorge da Silva Kaiowá, Kasiripinã Wajãpi and Merekuku Apalay), and, in an extensive and in depth "Amerindian Dialogue", have them speak about their knowledge and the ways by which they have learned. The audiovisual, written and ethnographic register of these debates, impressions and reflections will directly contribute to the research carried out by the CEstA members participating in this project, who already have a previous relationship with these indigenous interlocutors. The study will be carried out in three main phases: an intensive period of dialogue with these three knowledgeable persons, which will be registered by means of ethnography and audiovisual resources; a phase in which this material will be transcribed and analyzed; and a period in which the results of this research will be incorporated into two different products: a scientific article written collectively and three documents containing the narratives and reflections of each of these knowledgeable persons.
