Upgrade and maintenance of "Laboratório de Análises" of São Paulo Federal Institute - São Roque Campus.

Abstract

The São Roque Federal Institute is improving its equipment repertoire with the recent acquisition of some key items for research in molecular biology area. Recently the EU Court of Auditors reported that the Federal Institutes of Higher Education are lagged with laboratory facilities. The Federal Institute of São Roque has a laboratory infrastructure in the area of molecular biology at the beginning of training with equipment that can be used for nucleic acid analysis procedures, but does not yet generate results themselves. Have an appropriate infrastructure for the handling of tools that lead to understanding this field of knowledge work together for the development of human resources in your face shape, since the IFSP - São Roque has higher education in Oenology, Environmental Management and mainly Biological Sciences. This makes the participant and productive academic experience, linked with new realities study, research and contact with the produced knowledge, and approach the academic experience of an extremely promising job market. The year 2014 was marked with the approval of Regular FAPESP 2013 / 11111-8, coordinated by Professor Sandro José Conde. This project spurred the expansion of research in the campus, attracting undergraduate students of Biological Sciences area courses, including some of them being awarded IC grant from FAPESP itself, something previously unheard of for the Campus. The research structure of the institution has changed considerably following the acquisition of approved FAPESP project equipment, however, the infrastructure to support this equipment park was not originally designed for this purpose. Thus, one of the problems is related to the update and maintenance of this infrastructure to create conditions for development of current projects and upcoming projects.Among those needs, we can highlight the upgrade of the laboratory mains because, with the purchase of equipment such as autoclaves, freezer -80 ° C, incubators etc. the grid is working close to its equipment limit, making it impossible to search the expansion dependent on new equipment. This makes the renewal of mains an important point for new work is being done in this environment. In addition, current equipment and acquired for the project need to local cooling, which can be easily accomplished by upgrading the laboratory mains. We even with a number of equipment and reagents greater than initially projected, making it necessary for an organized and safe work, which new structures of cupboards and cabinets might contain these items.Accordingly, our annual plan to use the Reserve Institutional Infrastructure Engineering for Research, approved by the Campus Council, currently in the amount of R $ 12,852.00, consisting of:Materials to update the electrical network (wiring, circuit breakers, conduits, outlets etc.):Estimated value = R $ 6,000.00Materials for building of cabinets and enclosures suitable for reagents:Estimated value = R $ 3,000.00Third-party services:Estimated value = R $ 3,852.00 (AU)
