Preparation and evaluation of thiosemicarbazones derivatives complexes with (67/68Ga) gallium, (99mTc), and technetium (111In) indium as potential agents for detecting tumors

Since 1970 years the field of nuclear medicine has been used in the diagnosis of diseases and also for the treatment of cancer. Part of this success is related to the constant research and development of new radiopharmaceuticals. One class of molecule which has proved promising for the treatment of tumors, both in form and in organic form organo-metallic complex, and is thiosemicarbazone derivatives.Recently the group of Prof.. Dr. Victor Deflon, Department of Chemistry, University of São Paulo, São Carlos campus, synthesized new thiosemicarbazones prepared and their complexes of rhenium. Given the chemical similarity between the rhenium and technetium, we decided to make efforts to prepare the complexes of technetium-99m of new thiosemicarbazones, in order to evaluate the biological behavior in cellular and animal models. The preparation of technetium-99m complexes showed interesting results concerning the structure of the complex, with the formation of a complex monoligante that becomes a complex bisligante. These two types of complexes were obtained only and exclusively respectively using technetium-99 (t1 / 2 = 2.1 x105 years) and rhenium. In this project we intend to study the biological effect of the two structures of thiosemicarbazone complexes with technetium-99m, and prepare complexes of these ligands using radionuclides (67/68Ga) and gallium (111In) indium and evaluate the biological behavior of the same, with respect detection of tumor development in mice.
