Annual Implementation Plan for the parcel to costs of institutional infrastructure for research - FAPESP 2014

Abstract

The Pro-rectory of Graduate Courses and Research has valued the articulation among researchers from our several campi, as well as, prioritized the improvement of an adequate infrastructure to allow the development of high level and innovative research projects in diverse areas. In the health area we have already a solid experience by which we have been recognized at national and international levels. In the areas more recently added to our university, such as humanities, exact and environmental sciences, we are developing expertise and investing in technological parks. According to the decision of the Council on Graduate courses and Research, we will maintain the same model of distribution of the resources that was adopted in 2013, i.e., 30% will be used to support the initiatives of the Pro-rectory of Graduate courses and Research, 45% to support projects selected by means of a competitive process open to all researchers, and 25% to projects from the departments which contributed to generate the resources, proportionally to their contribution, provided it was higher than R$40.000,00. The resources will be used with priority to acquire equipment and to renovate the infrastructure of multiusers labs, respecting the FAPESP rules and norms. The selection process of the projects submitted to the competitive process was conducted by the Technical Committee of Research composed by researchers representative of the several areas, indicated by the Research Chambers from each University Units, in partnership with the coordination of Research from the Pro-rectory. The criteria to determine priorities were: the general analysis of the proposal with emphasis on the justification of the needs for the materials and services requested and their link to common areas of research and multiusers labs; the level of benefit to these labs and the difficulties or impossibility to acquire these materials or services from other sources, such as regular or thematic projects. In summary, the partition of resources was done in order to meet the several needs of the researchers from UNIFESP, mainly to those who contributed to the RTI generation, and to improve the research infrastructure following a clear short, medium and long-term planning.
