Astrometry in the solar neighbourhood, preparation and exploration of space missions

Abstract

The works to be developed in this project represent at the same time a continuation and an enlargement of what our team has been accomplished for a while. This includes, in addition to the scientific works, the cooperation and experiences in possible new directions imposed by the current reality concerning the quantity and quality of the observational data as well as the science itself. Our activities in the context of this project are and will be directed mainly to: determination of astrometric parameters of targets which present any special scientific interest; the exploration of these data associated or not to others from the literature and from photometric and spectroscopic observations; the participation of the development and exploration of the data from the spatial missions of Gaia and NEAT.The astronomical objects that are the focus of our works can be basically resumed in: 1 - brown dwarfs ultra cool, including some of them that will not be detected by the Gaia satellite. These objects are fundamental pieces in the stellar and planetary formation study and their physical characterization are extremely dependents on the astrometric data of good quality. 2- young stars of low mass in general, mainly those found in stellar formation regions, and the regions themselves as a whole are also the focus of our work by the importance that they have on the stellar formation study and in the census of the solar neighborhood. 3- extra-solar planets to be studied from the point of view of their individual physic characteristics and from the point of view of the dynamic characteristics of the system as a whole, including a refining and/or enlargement of the concept of habitable zone taking into account the stability of the planetary motion. 4- extended objects, mainly galaxies, to be observed by the Gaia satellite are also targets of our researches. Our work with these objects, that would be rejected by the Gaia reduction, has already shown that it is possible to enlarge the horizon of this spatial mission and to make science with these objects. We also intend, in this same context, to include the planetary nebulae. 5- solar like-stars that could potentially be targeted by the NEAT spatial mission. (AU)
