Evaluation of the replacement of mineral lubricant oil by additivated vegetable and of waste utilization

Abstract

Liquid lubricants and greases based on vegetable oils were common before the existence of mineral oil. The discovery of petroleum has resulted in a variety of lubricants based on mineral oil with higher quality and lower prices. For years there has been a large effort to develop lubricants, based on oil, with great qualities to meet the most varied demands of industries worldwide. It is common knowledge that the lubricants of mineral origin may cause permanent damage to the environment, since they are not biodegradable and have a degree of toxicity. Therefore, in the last two decades, concern about the use of lubricants base oil and its impacts on the environment has been great. Vegetable lubricants are being widely studied again in the intuited to replace lubricants of mineral origin to meet environmental regulations and conservation of nature, since they are biodegradable. Concern for the environment has resulted in research of various biodegradable oils of vegetable origin as was done before the discovery of oil. This paper adds a contribution to the studies of replacement of mineral lubricants. For this, various vegetable oils will be additivated with four types of additives, and a combination thereof. In the wear tests, the pins and discs are of similar construction to internal combustion engines materials. After analyzing the test one intend to gain information, in the future and with more Review of Literature, to drive on the formulation of an alternative lubricant plant origin. Residues of the tests will be utilized in experiments for Concrete Pavements, as alloying elements. The aim is also to study the influence of the addition of waste vegetable oil, in the concrete behavior, assessing the compressive strength, modulus of elasticity, tensile strength in bending, consistency by subsidence of the truncated cone and takes time to concrete with oil and compare the values with conventional concrete, ie without the addition of oil.
