Evaluation of serum cytokine profile, oxidative stress, blood gas analysis, haematological and biochemical profile and thermography of horses undergoing exercise of short duration and high intensity

Abstract

The present study aims to describe and evaluate the clinical and laboratory (cytokine profile, creatine kinase, lactate, lactate dehydrogenase, oxidative stress, blood gas and electrolyte evaluation) of horses undergoing exercise of short duration and high intensity. 32 animals will be used. These animals will be divided into the following groups: barrel regular training (GTTR), sporadic barrel training (GTTE), team roping regular training (GLTR) and team roping sporadic training (GLTE). Clinical parameters are: heart rate, respiratory rate, hydration, color of mucous membranes and body temperature. Outside temperatures corresponding to the muscles of the neck, thoracic and pelvic limbs (internal and external faces) and lumbar region will be measured by thermography . All data will be recorded in a separate record. Blood samples of 5 mL are collected with an anticoagulant for blood test, 2.5 mL in RNA stabilizer tube for real time PCR and 10 ml without anticoagulant for serum biochemical analyzes. Blood collection and evaluation of horses will be held 30 minutes before (T0) , immediately after (M1) and after 30 minutes (M2) , one (M3), two (M4), six (M5) and 24 hours (M6) competition . (AU)
