Study of enzymatic nancatalyst activated by carbon nanotubes e metallic nanoparticles for biofuel cell

Abstract

Biofuel cell is a strategy for clean and efficient energy production . Biofuel cells is a particular case of fuel cells in which biocatalysts are used to catalyze reactions at the electrode . The fuel biocells provide means to obtain clean, renewable energy and have great potential for maybe , in near future be used as alternative energy sources for low power electronic devices . Even with very promising characteristics, enzymatic fuel biofuel present many challenges to reach a stage of practical application. Some key issues in the development of these devices , such as lifetime , stability of enzymes , achieving higher power densities generated , overcoming difficulties in the electrons transfer between enzymes and electrodes , as well as improving techniques for enzyme immobilization are still important research objects . Some of the new trends in catalysts for fuel include the incorporation of nanoscale materials such as carbon nanotubes , nanofibers , nanocomposites , besides the incorporation of metal nanoparticles to bioeletrodos . Based on latest works in the literature on the development of these devices , the central focus of this research project is the development of hybrid nanocatalysts containing enzymes , carbon nanotubes and metallic nanoparticles for biofuel cells using two platforms for enzyme immobilization the PAMAM dendrimer and modified Nafion ® membrane. This pproject proposes the preparation of different compositions of biocathode C / laccase , O2 and bioanodes: C / alcohol dehydrogenase enzyme , ethanol targeting to increase the efficiency of electron transfer and stability of the enzyme .
