Influence of inflammatory markers of bone metabolism of HIV-seropositive patients in use or not antiretroviral therapy

Abstract

Advances in antiretroviral therapy (ART) have resulted in improved survival of patients infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Despite the success of therapy, studies have shown that HIV infection associated with antiretroviral therapy leads to accelerated immunosenescence contributes to systemic inflammation and the onset of degenerative and proliferative. Objective: To investigate the influence of inflammatory markers of bone metabolism in HIV-seropositive patients using or not ART. Methodology: It will be conducted an observational study, not analytical, cross-sectional with 50 adult men, HIV-infected, treated or not with ART and presence of lipodystrophy. Inflammatory markers will be assessed: interleukin-3 (IL-3), interleukin-4 (IL-4), interleukin-10 (IL-10), interleukin-13 (IL-13), transforming growth factor beta (TGF - f), interleukin-1 (IL-1), interleukin-2 (IL-2), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-8 (IL-8), interleukin-12 (IL-12), interleukin -17 (IL-17), interleukin-18 (IL-18), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-±), interferon gamma (IFN-³) and other biochemical markers osteocalcin, urinary deoxypyridinoline, total calcium, magnesium, albumin, calcium 24h, creatinine, PTH and 25-hydroxyvitamin D. Will apply methods for assessing body composition and bone mass using DXA (Dual energy x-ray absorptiometry), anthropometric measurements, diagnosis of lipodystrophy, assessment of food consumption and socio-economic assessment. Participants will be divided according to the use or not of ART, with GC Group: 10 treatment-naive participants; Group G> 2: 20 participants treated with ART> 2 years, Group G <2: 20 participants treated with ART <2 years and in relation to lipodystrophy will be organized into two groups with or without the presence of lipodystrophy.
