Abstract
The main objective of Prof. N Sawado visit is to study the Skyrme and Skyrme-Faddeev type models which are important as effective theories in the low energy limit (strong coupling) of Yang-Mills theories. We intend to study the Skyrme-Faddeev model in the coset space SU(3)/SU(2)xU(1), and to construct its topological soliton solutions. In addition we intend to perform their semi-classical quantization and compare their spectrum with that of glueballs in QCD. We also plan to construct the finite energy solutions for the self-dual sector of a Skyrme type model recently proposed by us, and which is relevant not only for gauge theories but also for Solar and Plasma Physics.
