The current competitive scenario demands the improvement of management institutions. The development of scientific methods to analyze complex systems and make decisions have become increasingly important. Agronomic and biological areas in this context require mathematical models and techniques for efficient resolution." In the Bioestatistics Department IB UNESP our current projects belong to the optimization area and we have some challenges concerning the characteristics mentioned above (optimization problems in the culture of sugarcane, optimal control of Dengue and optimization planning radiotherapy). Prof. Dr. Dylan Jones is an expert in solving a large multiobjective problems and may help us in the period at his visit in the Department. Usually, the developers of these projects promote interaction between national and international institutions, since they belong to different institutions as UNESP - Botucatu and UNESP - Bauru , UNICAMP - Campinas , ULISBOA - Portugal and University of Portsmouth - England.The work plan for the visiting professor consists of: knowing the Institute of Biosciences, UNESP, its research areas and postgraduate programs; discussing techniques for multiobjective optimization with research groups at UNESP; contributing to the development of the research project "Multiobjective Optimization Applied to Sugarcane Biomass Utilization for Generation of Energy"; delivering lectures showing his research experiences in the area of multiobjective optimization, at the Institute of Biosciences, UNESP, Botucatu; discussing specific research projects on Mathematical Modeling and Computer Simulation Biosystems; visiting the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Sciences at UNESP, Bauru.
