Abstract

The revascularization/revatalization procedures constitutes a current and promising therapeutic proposal for the treatment of immature permanent tooth with apical periodontitis, for allowing the repair or regeneration of dental tissues, resulting in increased thickening of the canal walls and continued root development. However the induction mechanisms and the nature of the tissues formed into the root canal space of revascularized teeth is not currently know. The present study has the purpose to evaluate using radiographic, histological and immunohistochemistry analyses, the revascularized process of immature permanent molar rats with induced apical periodontitis. Thirty male Wistar rats of 4-weeks-old will be used, from which 10 right lower first molars (RLM) and 30 left lower first molars (LLM) will be selected and split in 4 groups (n=10): G1 will be the control group and the specimens (RLM) will not receive intervention, they will be used for evaluation root embrioyogenisis in vital teeth, G2 - the specimens (LLM) will leave open to the oral environment for 3 weeks for induction of apical periodontitis and interruption of root embryogenesis and they will not receive treatment , G3 - the specimens (LLM) will als leave open to the oral environment, the root canals will receive interventions for disinfection and will be filled with calcium hydroxide past and G4- the specimens (LLM) will receive the same treatment of group 3 and after the period of 2 weeks will receive treatment for pulp revascularization. After the period of 6 weeks, all animals will be euthanized, the specimens radiographed and processed for histological (H.E) and immunohistochemistry analyses by identification of BMP-4 and STRO-1.
