A software product line to intensify the development of virtual museum with multimodal interaction

Abstract

The museums are considered a large repository of History, art and memory that can be used as an important tool for teaching and learning by allowing the comparison between the present and the past, and the interaction with collections. However, Brazil has few virtual museums and the statistics show that less than 10 % of the population has visited a museum. The project goal is the development of a software product line to enhance the production of virtual museums with multimodal interaction to the teaching and learning in the History's domain, used in elementary, high and college school. The proposal is to allow the teacher can use the collection of a museum in the classroom in accordance with the syllabus of the series. The project will bring contributions to accelerate the development of virtual museums environments in the field of History through the reuse of components (product line), thus supporting the process of teaching and learning at different grade levels, and impacting in the dissemination of knowledge, regardless of geography localization. The validation of the product line will be held with the development of public museums to three different school levels: elementary school, high school and graduate education. For this, we obtained the support of a primary school, one high school and the university. All of them will participate in the process of needs elicitation and of museum validation phase of the museum. (AU)
