Geometry in textbooks and integration of digital technologies


The research is based on the following questions: How is geometry approached in the teaching mathematics books? What is the integration of technology proposal in the approved editions by PNLD2014 and 2015? Therefore, the methodology will be based in the content of the analysis, because that type of study offers the advantage of a possible comprehension towards what is expressed in a way to trespass the limits of the investigation of the manifest content. A deep study about geometry approached in didactic books will be done, looking for the evaluation of the following questions for those which were approved: 1) What is the proportion which geometry is broached in the book? What is the format of the distribution? Is the content centralized under specific chapters or through other topics?; 2) Is the geometrical approach shown through non-geometrical concepts?; 3) In connection to the authors' perspectives: Does the activities focus the conceptual exploration? Procedural?; 4) How is the technology suggestively broached for the development of the geometrical content?; 5) What is the source of the digital educational objects suggested as multimedia content? (Are they software apps for dynamic geometry, for example?); 6) What is the methodological approach of those digital features? Are they medias so students can explore or apps for teachers to use as presentation?; The goal of the study is to identify how the technological integration is proposed in the current didactic books - which are distributed to public schools in Brazil, concerning the study of geometry - by analyzing the collections approved by PNLD for the elementary school II and high school, starting from questions such as the ones asked through the study.
