Abstract

Staphylococcus sp is common agent of bovine mastitis, causing huge economic losses in Brazilian cattle. This micro-organism posses virulence factors well known as the production of hemolysin, leucotoxinas and toxin superantigens such as toxic shock syndrome and enterotoxins. In addition, several Staphylococcus species can acquire antibiotic resistance genes to lactam antimicrobials. The objective of the study is to characterize molecularly Staphylococcus sp from milk of cows with clinical and subclinical mastitis in various regions of the state of São Paulo, by MLST, spatyping, agr and clonal complex (CC). Also will be performed phenotypic and genotypic tests for antimicrobial resistance (including the SCCmec) and molecular research of some virulence factors such as Panton Valentine toxin, toxic shock syndrome and classical enterotoxins and sec, seh, s9ei, in order to check which virulence factors involved in mastitis disease.
