Technical reserve for infrastructure cost for institucional research

Abstract

The Molecular Oncology Research Center (Centro de Pesquisa em Oncologia Molecular - CPOM) from the Barretos Cancer Hospital, now has more than 75 members, including biologists, graduate students, researchers and visiting professors. Most of the projects have been developed in cancer genetics area, where there is a need of carrying out PCR techniques using thermal cyclers. The CPOM now has four pieces of equipment, what is insufficient for the quantity of users. In this context, we require the acquisition of Proflex "Thermal Cycler with double block for 96 wells, which will allow increasing the ongoing projects and accelerate the scientific output of our Center. Two computers with Microsoft Office package will be requested as well. They will be available in the library to help researchers to develop projects, to prepare databases and to make literature reviews, such as MedLine, Lilacs and SciELO. A professional scanner will be also requested. It will be used by researchers, research coordinators, Ethics Committee and the Research and Technological Innovation Projects Office. The intention is to use the equipment to prepare a comprehensive digital file containing all documents related to the research projects developed in Pio XII Foundation. Since there are a high number of documents, a high-performance scanner is needed. The remaining financial amount will be used to purchase books, which will be incorporated into the library of the institution, being available to all employees for research and dissemination of knowledge.
