Geophysical prospection in supergenic manganses ocurrence in Natércia region, Minas Gerais Southern


The mineral sector is of utmost importance for Brazilian economic growth, an area which depends on basic geological research to enlarge known deposits and in process f mining, besides discovering new occurrences and mineral deposits. This set of activities is named mineral research, which planning involves economy concepts, market demands and use of methods and techniques for geological evaluation, direct and indirect. This Project aims at performing geophysical detailing, by application of the Electrical Resistivity and Induced Polarization methods in supergenic manganese occurrence, enclosed in gneiss belonging under Silvanópolis Complex (Archean), Minas Gerais Southern region. The objective this proposal is evaluate the intensity variation of the physical properties between areas with concentration the manganese oxides and sterile materials, determinate a tridimensional morphology of the mineralization and verifity applicability of the Electric geophysical methods in geophysical prospection in supergenic deposits. The lack of scientific publications by Brazilian researchers in mineral prospecting, availability of previous studies, possibility access and absence of mineral research requirement in DNPM for study area, justify the performance of the present research project.
