Insulin-like type 1 receptor (IGF1R) expression in obese children

Abstract

Obesity is the most prevalent nutritional disorder in childhood. It is a complex condition increasing globally at the last years. The obesity in childhood can make a high impact in physical and emotional growth and can increase the risk to dislipemya, heart disease, glucose intolerance, low self-esteem and including growing accelerate. The main objective of this project is observe the insulin-like growth factor type I receptor ( IGF1R) in obese children. One of the specific goal is determine the blood concentration of IGF1, IGF 1 binding protein, insulin, glycaemia, lipids, androgen, estrogen and evaluate the gene expression of IGF type 1. In addition will be verify the possible correlation between the concentration of the component of IGF system and other clinical ascertain like weigh, stature, body mass index, abdominal and cervical circumference. The assay will be composition with 60 subject, pre-pubescent children with obesity (30) and non-obese (30) diagnoses. (AU)
