Monitoring the land use and water quality of the Córrego da Olaria watershed Apta, Pindorama - SP

Abstract

Surface and ground water is considered as one of the most valuable natural resources in the world. Thus, monitoring the quality of water resources and the use and occupation of land constitutes a work of great importance to understand the system and devise rules for supply the people, essential for the maintenance and enhancement of this feature. Our objectives are to evaluate the quantitative and qualitative aspects of water and the land use around those natural resources in a catchment area of 11 km2 of the Polo Regional Centro Norte, Pindorama-SP, that belongs to the Ribeirão São Domingos, Rios Turvo e Grande Watersheds. Morphometric analysis will be done at the watershed; flow monitoring and the water quality parameters will be analyzed: temperature, pH, oxygen, conductivity, turbidity, total solids, ORP, in locus and total hardness: ammonia, nitrate, nitrogen, phosphorus, heavy metals and total and fecal coliforms.The water will be sample in six springs and the flow measurement will be done in four points along the drainage network. The statistical design is a completely randomized design with five replications. The georeferenced map of the area with the results obtained will show the quality of water resources along the drainage network. The experiment will be conducted in areas of pastures, woods and the area that borders four artificial ponds built to stabilize a gully. All results will be delivered to the Government for a better understanding of this valuable resource. (AU)
