A validation study of the Brazilian version of DLOTCA-G (Dynamic Loewenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment, for geriatric population) in elderly people in Santos

Abstract

DLOTCA-G (Dynamic Loewenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment - for geriatric population)-(Katz et al, 2010) is an assessment instrument of cognitive abilities in 8 (eight) areas such as orientation, visual and spatial perception, praxis, motor visual organization, thinking operations, awareness and memory. The dynamic version allows us to identify the cognitive profile and the potential for learning and thinking strategies from the use of mediation. This battery has gone through the cross cultural adaptation but the psychometrics properties were not evaluated. Objectives: To evaluate the psychometric properties of the adapted version: feasibility checking - through its use in practice, as well as its reliability through test-retest intra and inter -examiner and analyses of internal consistency and construct validity in a sample of elderly people living in a community in Santos city. Methods: In the analysis of the psychometric proprieties of the Portuguese version of the DLOTCA-G, we will evaluate the reliability and the construct validity of the scale in 200 elderly people, living in the community. In this study two centers will be involve, the Community Center for Third Age in Santos city, São Paulo and Service in Dementia (SADe). Will be evaluated elderly with cognitive impairment (n = 100) and without cognitive impairment (n = 100) from both services, Community Center for Third Age and SADe. (AU)
