Experimental trial in rabbits for the use of Biotissue TM as material on nasal dorson elevation

Nasal deformities can be caused by traumatisms, as external impacts and surgeries, to be sequels of infections granulomatosis or even, they can be due to congenital alteration. These deformities provoke quite evident alterations in the face of the individuos may cause social stigmata of difficult adaptation, what leads to real need of its correction. Several materials have been proposed for use in the nasal reconstruction. However, until today, there is no consensus on which is the best to be used. Biotissue is a flexible membrane, semi-transparent, composed of polissacarides, synthesized by bacterium of the gender acetobacter, being biodegradable, no poisonous, no pirogenic and sterile. This composition has been used with success as temporary curative of skin. Its physical and biocompatibility characteristics, as well as the placement easiness and the probable modelation possibility in the action of the insertion, makes it a possible element of help in the surgeries that demands addition cartilaginous and/or bone. Objective: The use of material with these properties still was not investigated in patients submitted to nasal remodelation. As the tests in animals didn't include evaluation in the nose, we understood that it was necessary to verify the cicatrization conditions and Biotissue's effectiveness as material of volumetric expansion of nasal dorson in rabbits. Material and Method: Male rabbits of six months of age will be studied, that will be following for a period of up to 3 months, being randonly divided in groups of follow-up... (AU)
